Back To School Photo Idea

So sometimes kids are not thrilled about returning to school in the fall, so getting a happy face for that photo can be hard. Or sometimes they are super excited and can’t be bothered to stand still long enough to get that pic.

I crafted this handy reusable photo prop for both situations.  Its a real chalkboard with vinyl sections. And it can be erased and used over and over (multiple students? new events? yearly?).

Just fill in the categories with chalk and have your student hold the sign.  Giving them something to hold usually fixes the “I don’t know how to pose” problem.  And they love filling in the all important information.  Check it out at my Etsy shop.

Display some Parent LOVE

Mother’s Day is May 14! And Father’s Day is June 18.  Want to know how to celebrate both with one click of the button.  Check out my Etsy Shop for this cute tribute to your parental units.  Set on the mantle, bring to the party, display on bookshelf, or give as a gift.

I can customize the “Mom”  to suit your needs: mommy, nana, auntie, mema, etc.  And just think of the fun it will be when you get to “flip” it around for “DAD” (or papa, bumpa, uncle, etc.).  These sweet lil three blocks are reversible so you have it covered for both May and June. Awesome!

Festive Phrases

So I am the type of crazy person who puts her Christmas decor away the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.  Probably started this habit cuz it was easier to do it while I was off work that week, but now I do it cuz it makes me happy to have that ‘clean slate’ to decorate for the new year.

In that vein, I made some festive phrases blocks.  These cute blocks actually reverse to say two messages.  SO I put my Winter Wonderland one up with my New Year’s Eve decor (clocks pointing to midnight, toasting glasses, party hats, noise makers) and after that but before February, I will flip it to Home Sweet Home.

If you would be interested, I have one left in my Etsy shop for sale.  Hurry! And get that Christmas decor boxed up!

Love Family

Since I just welcomed my fourth grandchild into the world this month, it got me thinking how precious family can be and how important it is to enjoy the time we have with our parents, children and grandchildren.  With May just around the corner with the all important MOTHER’S day holiday and followed closely by FATHER’S day in June, I thought I would make some crafty decor to help enjoy those holidays.  Check out my newest item at my Etsy shop.  And remember to hug those precious family members today!!

Surf’s Up Dude

Although it is still springtime per Mr. Calendar, I am soooo ready for the summer.  We have had sunny days here in Seal Beach which makes me want to pull out the beach decor and get in the mood for summer.  Check out my new vintage surfboard decor I made for my hallway (and is also available for sale at my Etsy shop).  Reminds me of endless summer vacations and I can almost smell the coconut suntan lotion. Although I am not a ‘surfer’ I do alright on a boogie board.  So let’s all “whalecome” summer in our hearts.

Leap Day

Yay! It is leap year day! an extra day to spend enjoying life! And what better way to enjoy it other that being festive.  I even got my first leap day card in the mail (thanks Nancy). March is right around the corner – St. Patrick’s Day, first day of spring, and this year Easter is in March too.  Good news is that folks are taking advantage of this leap day with awesome sales.  Including Everyday Holiday Shop.  Check out the sale on spring and Easter decor along with seasonal fun too.

Hope you get out there and enjoy your extra day or at least get online and shop some awesome sales.  I am going over to the Hero Arts site to take advantage of their 29% sale today.

Growing up and living in Southern California all my life seasons were marked by looking on the calendar not necessarily at the sky.  Sure it was a little cooler in the winter and a little wetter (very little) in the spring, and of course lovely and sunny in the summer.  I never really experienced fall at all.  But after living for 8 years in Northern California, I did get the idea that seasons do happen and can be quite beautiful.  I remember my first fall in our home where the trees turned brilliantly orange and yellow.  But now I am back in the sunny (almost always 72 degrees) and have to once again rely on the calendar to get excited for the seasons to change.  So I thought I would whip up some fun decor to remind me of the up coming Spring (soon per Phil) and soon to follow Summer.  Check them out at my etsy shop heremerged image

Mother’s Day – May 10

For some people, Mother’s day is a hard holiday.  Either their mom’s are gone, or estranged, or there are too many moms in their circle – mother’s in laws, ex’s, “the all knowing” mothering types, etc.  But for most of the world, Mother’s Day is special.  Time to acknowledge the love, care, patience (albeit veiled at times), and TIME Mom’s give to their young. This is why I designed a special mother’s day item for my ETSY shop which reflects the TIME – literately!

A canvas clock that expresses YOU ARE LOVED – ALL OF THE TIME.  Doesn’t that say it all? And it can be gifted to anyone who have taken the time to give you love, care, a listening ear, a hug, etc.  So pop over to my shop when you can and check it out. side ways

Easter Blessings

Easter was always a fun time growing up.  It meant a new hat and a new pair of shoes.  Always white. Like a clean slate. And sometimes even a new purse.  After church we would ‘find’ hidden treasures (candy candy candy).  When I grew up I instilled some fun memories in my kids too.  Church, picnic in the park, and our beloved KITE WARS.

I love the feeling of renewal in Spring especially during Easter.  Here is my homage to this holiday.  It showcases my “blocks that talk”. They can be used for any festive event or holiday.
